2009 is Going to Rock !!!

I predict Year 2009 is going to be a Watershed year for the Positive Upturn of the World Economy.

Its going to Rock. Why do I think so?

With every Tom, Donald and Hari predicting weak forecast for majority of companies, it seems like the end of the world is near.

But when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

This is the time for Bargains. Most of the Smart people will now realize this Opportunity and make wise investments in turn driving the Economy up.

The only place for things to go now onwards is Up.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi - Delivers !!!

Wow !!!

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is a wonderful feel good movie.

Never crossing the lines of decency and Never indulging in any false pretense.

This is another SRK movie which stays close to its premise of the 'Concept' of Indian culture.

It never tries to Convince you against will or logic. It just slowly seeps you in its Emotional Challenge of rediscovery of your feeling beneath the mask.

Kudos to SRK for giving another movie whose moments we will cherish for time to come !!!

Everybody is Concerned !!!

"Do you have any relatives back in Mumbai?"

I have been asked this question 5 different times today by strangers during my Black Friday shopping visit.

I am moved.

I am so glad that the whole world is concerned.

The Terror acts is uniting the people of the world and that is one positive progress.

Indian Government and Media needs to be more Proactive Against Terrorism

Right now as I watch the Taj Hotel in Mumbai in flames because of the Terror Attack, I am reminded of the Sept 11 twin tower attack in New York.

What is wrong with these people? What is the motive behind all these? Is it to derail the stability and peace in the region? Is it retaliation against some act of injustice against some Individual or community? Who is the mastermind?

Hatred Begets Hatred. 80+ People lost their lives in these attack. My sincere condolences and feel for them.

Even after this attack if the Infection of Terror is allowed to grow, it will engulf the whole country in a matter of time.

It is time now for the Government, Media and People to be responsible and get their act together to weed out CORRUPTION and TERRORISM from India and from the World.

There needs to be a systematic accountability of identification of each Individual and organization.

We should not wait for terrorism to impact us to pull up our sock together. Today Cops and Tomorrow Celebrities and Day After Tomorrow Politicians seems to be the Agenda of Terrorists.

If we do not feel safe, we cannot achieve.

Hail the spirit of Mumbai and other cities to forgive and forget !

But it is time for citizens of the country to be Smart and Pro active in weeding out Terror .

VAARANAM AAYIRAM is Disappointing !!!

Movie Audiences have matured to the kind of cinema they expect from certain well established writers and directors.

I watched VA in VA Yesterday as planned.

The movie was disappointing. I could not really connect to it.

I still am confused what was the purpose of the Movie.

To keep it short, It was Disappointing.

My Friends Quote

After seeing the current market situation and following election, my good friend SN has summed it up very well. In his own words

Indian Business  is where American Business was 20 years ago.  American politics is where Indian Politics (MGR and NTR times) was 20 years ago.

Market Prediction for 2008 Nov 10-15

Three Negative days and 2 Positive days.

Unless and until there is a one major turning point in the coming months which determines the psychological bottom of the market for the current downturn there is not going to be many wealthy buyers jumping into the buying frenzy.

The really rich and intelligent know that the market has not bottomed yet.

Wisdom floating on the Internet and other publications by seasoned traders and my ‘limited knowledge and intelligence’ interprets the market to end down by end of November 2008 then what it is now.

About the bottom, I believe the bottom will be around 7200 points on Dow Jones.

I will compare this prediction against time to come.

Doing The Right Thing !!!

When I was young, I learnt that whatever the situation, you should do the RIGHT Thing. Whenever faced with a decision, use your common sense. Having a HOLISTIC view of things around helps us make the right decision and things fit into correctly if the RIGHT Thing was done.

Today as I write, I read this headline on www.ibnlive.com

BJP MPs claim SP bribed them, show cash in LS

What is Wrong with the Politicians of India ?

Today is the day of No Confidence Motion against the UPA government for the Nuclear deal with USA. According to the information available this was initiated by the NDA government and they are the one opposing it today. What kind of logic is that?

The government has apparently reached the numbers and will probably survive.

But what about this Claim? Don't they ever think that whatever they are doing is being watched the world over?

I was reprimanded by my college professor for being over-smart to the Interviewers during the college SSC recruitment. He told me that I represented the college and my behaviour might impact the future students of the college as I might give a false impression of being casual and rude to the Defense people.

But don't the politicians understand these? Isn't it illegal to defame or initiate false propoganda?

God knows what kind of morality and sense is being flaunted by these politicians?

It is time for the next generation of leaders to be aware that every action of theirs will be scrutinized and remembered by the press and the voters. They have to set an example in their deeds, action and will.

Time for Youngsters to Take Up Politics as a Career !!!

Dark Knight - Exceptional Script

Wow !!! An Amazing Start to a Long Day.

When I got an offer from an my roommate Y for a midnight show of 'Dark Knight' I readily volunteered. Just a few clicks and we got the confirmation number on fandango.

How often does a new movie surprises you with Excellent Stunts, Superb Direction and Exceptional Script justifying the hype surrounding it !!!

The Dark Knight is such a movie.

Me and Four of my pals excited booked a Late Night Show for the Premier of the Movie. Imagine the Time 12:01 am Friday 18th July.

A First Day First Show experience for the first time for us in the US(A).

Today 18th July 2008, early morning 12:01 am the show started with the Cinema Hall filled total capacity.

The screening was delayed for some unknown reason by around 10-15 minutes but nobody moved. There was no announcement. Everyone I guess was waiting in anticipation.

While we waited I read about the Movie Hype and my friend S informed me that he had liked Batman Begins and Christoper Nolan was the director of Memento, one movie which I had to rewatch several times to understand.

When the movie commenced, each and every person was engrossed by the Villain, the Astonishing Joker 'Heath Ledger' in a performance of a Lifetime.

The mind games played by the Joker and the way he escapes though simple was neatly handled.

Enter the drama phase and different characters introduced who in a unique way impressed themselves and carried the foundation of the story forward.

At the end of the movie there was a hearty applause by one and all for the total entertainment package of a good cinema viewing.

The four scenes which I found exciting and memorable were

1) The Conversion of the 'Batmobile' Car to a Two Wheeler

2) The Somersault of the Truck

3) The SONAR cell jamming technique

4) The Half Damaged face of D.A. Harvey Dent aka Aaron Eakhart

I can rave and rant about the movie but its late night around 4:15 am in the Morning and don't won't to be late at work so will cut this short.

Critically the length of the movie could have been less. There were times when the screenplay was deliberately slow.

As a FAN (just converted) I believe it is worth to view this movie in the big screen at least once at the earliest.

Critic Rating - 4/5

Fan Rating - 4.5/5

Are you Old ?

People say you are as old as you think you are.

I say it is absolutely wrong.

The basic thing to do with your life is to live. Live every moment of it.

How many times have I been chided by people either mentioning I am old or I look young. I have seldom being influenced by such a remark.

One thing I have realized however is that I used to live the moment and sometimes I live in the memory.

It does influence how i feel at a point in time but it is not constant.

That brings forth what I want to put in. Do you live the moment or do you live in memories ?

Both might appeal to you and both might make you feel good or euphoric.

One word I would like to put in here for you is LIVE THE MOMENT. NOW is the time. SIEZE It.

If you are living in memories, you are getting old.

Are You Old ?

Bad Tasting Water

My colleague in office Lv mentioned this season he started the centralized AC in his home yesterday.

The first blow of wind was awful to smell and his guess is there is a dead mouse which caused the stink.

Reminds me of the college cooler drinking water which tasted terrible for 3 days before it was discovered that a dead cat in the terrace water-tank was the reason behind it.

Luckily no causalities…

Reading Is Always the In Thing?

Books are old school.

I love to read. I love to learn. But what about Applying the Knowledge acquired in Real World ? Less than 1%. I believe you are the same way too.

In fact everything around us is some idea which germinated in an individual. By applying and persistently following the idea the end result is a product we see.

I don't want to dwell into why are we not applying what we learn, but want to head start applying whatever I have learnt.

I believe the heading of this blog should read and be re-written as Applying Knowledge Learnt is ETERNALLY the In-thing.

Unique Questions Asked To Me

There are so many questions being asked everyday everywhere in the world.

But I have noticed that there are some questions so unique that I may own them as only being asked to me.

1) How Come Your Jeans are So Crumpled ?

2) What is that bar on the wall behind the TV ?

3) Have you read "How To Win Friends And Influence People"

4) Why do you want to get Married?

My Innovative Phone

Reading about various blogs, articles suggesting features and wants from the next generation of iPhone prompts me to write about things I desire.

What I want from my Phone is

1) A Dual LCD Screen, one on the front, One on Back. One with Touch-screen and One Without and maybe with a Keyboard.

2) Lightweight and supporting at least 3.2 MP Camera.

3) Supporting at least 3G speeds with ability to connect to wireless networks in hotspots.

4) Video shooting with Sound Recording capability.

5) GPS and at least 20 GB of Memory.

6) Bluetooth support and ability to play all kinds of streaming video, audio.

7) Ability to allow VOIP calls similar to Nokia N880.

I want to take credit for the Dual LCD Screen feature and my bet is Apple will surely deliver that one... What Say ?

Experience of a Orkut Virus :-)

During the days of Mighty DOS, In My College Lab, I wrote a small pseudo-virus program disguised as a attractive looking exe file. You can guess the name.

It used to call the del *.* command and echo a "Y" which in turn used to remove all the files of the current directory.

No damage happened because of that coz that was the first file to get deleted if anybody ever ran it. Tee Hee...

Last week I got a scrap on ORKUT by a friend SS who had written a strange message and asked me to paste a javascript in the browser. When I did that.. I just a Image retrieving taking place, but after some seconds.. I realized something was fishy.

I immediately tried to contact my friend and found that he had got the same scrap from me with the same message. OMG !!!

That was totally unexpected.

It seemed the Javascript I ran actually managed to use my Google Login Token and accessed my friends list and scrapped the message in each and every one of them.

I had to painfully remove the scrap message from my friends scrap page. Whew!!!

Also guess what the script made me join 15 different Communities which I had never visited.

I hope my friends are careful about this and not get enticed by any sweet looking message.

Adios

Carpooling

For the last couple of months I have been car-pooling 15 miles to the office with my two colleagues KT and Sj.

Almost everyday we end up being 5-15 mins late than the office reporting time. I make it just in nick of time for the early morning scrum.

Initially I had a hard time adjusting to being late. I hate waiting myself and making others wait, but I have noticed that its really enjoyable ride to and fro.

We spend valuable time, discussing various ideas and that really stimulates the thinking process.

Everyday I learn at least a couple of new things and new information which I absorb.

Cheerio to the Gas Prices... At least we get to save some GAS in exchange for precious moments of fun.

People Don't Like Change

While driving back from office, my colleague Sj and I had a discussion why Barrack Obama is not likely to be the next president.

Our reasoning was based on the fact that when it matters most, the critical and crucial decisions are not always based on proper reasoning but on the principal of known devil is better than unknown friend.

Obama wants to bring in change. He might have the best ways to change USA and the world for the good of each and everyone, but is USA willing to give in to his request? Is it ready? Only time will tell.

But common sense and intuition suggests that Nobody Likes Change. People don't like change.

Therefore Obama is in a Trap. In case he gets a nomination from the Democratic party, The republicans are likely to exploit his change ideas for Obama's downfall.

Lets see what happens....

Vijay Mallya - Hindsight In Gambling.

Hindsight is an Exact Science.

'Biggest mistake was to abstain from selection' - Vijay Mallya screams the Headlines.

Everyone is bound to miscalculate but simply shrugging and victimizing innocent Manager does not resolve a problem.

I wonder what makes Mallya think that the judgement of Rahul Dravid and Charu Sharma was wrong.

Anyways i am not losing Rs 4 Crores.. Am I?

The Lesson here in for me is Don't Cry Over Spilt Milk.

Strategize for the Future. Have a Concrete Role for each and every member.

From My Limited Knowledge the guess is Nobody has a Concrete Role in the Royal Challengers Team and It Shows.

I would have started by defining Role of Vijay Mallya and strict adherence to Not Crying In Media for a Bad Show.

A Coach or a Manager does not make a Difference to the Performance of the Professional Players On the Ground. :-) What Say ?

Getting Friends To Blog and Read

One attempt I have been consciously doing over the past couple of years or maybe since a long long time is to get my Friends to Read and Write Blogs.

I am glad to announce that my Roomy is going to start his blog this week and my best friend is already hooked on to reader.google.com

Yahoo !!! But still a long way to go.

Playing the Quiz

Last week I could not pass two quiz attempts

One was at www.intelligentpeople.com a site for high IQ people and the other was the Indian version of Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain http://www.indya.com/paanchvipass/game/game.htm

Whew !!!

Am I Losing My Touch ?

IPL Semifinalists

Wow !!! The IPL has been as enthralling and interesting as the Second Season of ICL.

I felt Lahore Badshahs provided the needed impetus for ICL.

Today after seeing Rajasthan Royals win against Delhi Daredevils chasing 157 ensured their Semi Final Birth for the IPL Tournament.

The rest 3 teams I believe should make it should be Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils.

Lets see.. Its been quite often that I have been caught with my foot in the mouth. :-)

Presidentship Candidate Game Over for Hillary Clinton

The only reason i would like to have Hillary Clinton win the nomination from the Democrat Party for the presidential election is because 'Known Devil Is Better Than Unknown Friendship'

Barrack Obama has been cool enough to surge ahead of Hillary as of Now. Hats Off to him.

But In my limited knowledge this increases the chances of next president to be John McCain.

IGNORANT Scientists

Study: Caffeine may boost miscarriage risk http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/conditions/01/21/hfh.caffeine.miscarriage/?iref=mpstoryview

What is wrong with some Scientists ? Are they so cynical and living in their own WELL?

Coffee intake increases rate of miscarriages. What is one to make of this ?

Every now and then I get headings like this which makes little sense of correlation between two varying events.

I know of a state in India where coffee intake is like at least 5 cups a day and all throughout the life and has been going on for generations. There has been no reported differences in the miscarriages in so many generations so all of a sudden this Imaginative Theory and correlation between coffee and miscarriages.

Hate to post any more on this, except the person responsible for this news is an idiot.

BCCI Plans to Play Sourav Ganguly in World Cup 2011

Wow !!! What a Win !!!

India Cricket Team Totally deserved the win and it was not a surprise. Australia underestimated India once again and paid the price.

Those who do not read history are condemned to repeat it.

I don't know whatz wrong with BCCI selectors but dropping Sourav Ganguly from the ODI team means increasing the longetivity of the Sourav Ganguly.

Its a great plan to recall Sourav once again in 2009 right for him to participate in world cup 2011.

New Year Gift From the Indian Cricket Team

What more can you ask from the Indian Cricket Team on the first day of the New Year ?

It is the first of January 2008 today here and its 10:00 pm EST. Its already session 2 after lunch on day 1 of the first cricket test match of 2008 between australia and india.

Australia are 6 down for 134 thanks to the brilliant spell by R.P. Singh and 'Bhajji' Singh.

Can the Indian Cricket Team Gift a Win against the Australia as the New Year Gift for die hard Cricket Fans Like Me ?
