Year 2015 plan

The more I label something as a new year resolution, the more likely I might not accomplish it. As negative it may sound, it is a consistent observation.

Here is my list of things to do and form new habits.

1. Write at least one post on the blog every single week.
2. Read or hear at least two books every month. Rate and Write a review.
3. Surprise at least one friend each month and catch up with what's going on.
4. Meticulously log intake and activities every day.
5. Exercise regularly and be more fitter than ever.
6. Put in sincere efforts to live in the moment.
7. No time wasting playing chess/other silly games online.
8. Meditate at least 15 minutes every week.
9. Get the to Point faster.

Wishing you and your family a Happy Prosperous Healthy and Safe New Year ahead !!!

Z is for Zen #atozchallenge

Zen is attained when you no longer desire to attain Zen.

Y is for YOLO #atozchallenge

Yet another acronym which surfaces now and then, which incidentally I do not believe in.

You Only Live Once.

Interestingly the Bhagavad Gita says the Soul cannot be destroyed and it wears a body after every birth. In short You are destined for rebirth based on your good Karma so YOLO is incorrect.

X is for Cross #atozchallenge

X is the 24th Letter in English Alphabets which also resembles the multiplication sign.

Interestingly X starts very few words but can also stand for Cross.

Blame reading many comics and watching spoofy movies to make me mention "X marks the SPOT" for hidden treasure.

"Teja Main Hoon, Mark idhar hain"

W is for Wisdom #atozchallenge

Whether you feel happy or sad, good or bad, it is always a state of mind.

Wisdom is knowing the difference between right and wrong and choosing the appropriate thing to do.

V is for Victory #atozchallenge

Veni, Vedi, Vici.

I came, I saw, I conquered.

I won I won I won.

Victory over self-control is the sweetest victory of all victories.

U is for Ultimate #atozchallenge

Under many circumstances we lose sight of the shore, but ultimately our destination also plays a important part in the Journey towards it.

Keep sight of the Ultimate accomplishment to be at peace with one self and your environment.

T is for Trivia #atozchallenge

Truth is we all love trivia when we learn something new, but the greater truth is Trivia is many times Trivial and not all that important.

Focus on acquiring knowledge is far more important than gathering trivia.

Think about it.

S is for Starting #atozchallenge

Sure way to have a great finish is to Start Early.

Like it is said "the early bird gets the worm".

All's well that ends well said Shakespeare, but for something to end one has to start.

Procrastination is the enemy of Starting.

Avoid Procrastination and Start Now.

R is for Random #atozchallenge

Returning to blog a post about Randomness, Can I have the permission to have a randomly short and Blank Post ?

Why not ?

Q is for Quorum - #atozchallenge

Qualification for votes is only considered when the minimum Quorum is met.

Quoting Democracy is considered government by the people, for the people, of the people, Quorum is an essential which may ensure a minimum representation of the setup before proceedings officially can continue.

P is for Pretense - #atozchallenge

Post education experience in real life at different places reveals some insightful behavior of pretense mentality.

I partially blame books similar to and inclusive of "How to Win Friends and Influence People" which can be misunderstood to override reactions from cold vibes of a personality trait.

Social acceptance and/or relevance pressures many people to use Pretense of an individual.

Genuine gem of a person who are calm and aware of this do not use Pretense and that is what differentiates them from the crowd.

Did you ever feel pressured to be what you think someone else thought you ought to be?

O is for Only If - #atozchallenge

Other things aside, the thing I least respect includes regret over missed Opportunities.

Hear any story of missed Opportunities and you will hear Only if.

Only If I had chosen wisely, I would have had a better career. yada yada yada.

The way to relook at things with a positve attitude is to substitute Only if with Next Time.

Next Time, I reach that position, I know what I do will make it better.

What are you going to Next Time ?

N is for Now - #atozchallenge

Never underestimate yourself.

As much as you try, waking up 7 days of the week with the same positive frame of mind it becomes laborious to keep yourself motivated to the same extent.

Nothing unites like a common enemy, Nothing motivates like knowledge. As simple as it can be Time is a factor which keeps on moving and never waits for those who procrastinate. It rewards only those who acknowledge its presence and make the most of it.

It is NOW that you have which will soon pass away.

What are you doing NOW ?

M is for Measure - #atozchallenge

Maths is either loved or hated, but it is an absolute essential without which survival and progress of a person is determined.

Directly or indirectly each person measure's time and celebrates birthday's, measure's money and feels content or measure's cholesterol and feels safer.

Even though Ignorance is bliss, any sane person has to know the value of measure and take actions based on what has been measured.

Are you aware you can measure the hotness of chilli too?

L is for Learning - #atozchallenge

Live life any way you want, you are only alive till you are learning.

Knowledge is power. The infinite ocean of information cannot be learnt in a life time that is why we choose a narrow discipline.

Some of us and our ancestors have fathomed this and have resorted to goal of learning to discipline one's thoughts to control self and in turn control the surroundings. They learn the secret to happiness to let go of one's desires.

Each and every day you can be better and wiser if you keep learning about something you like. This will keep you humbled and propel you to act better whenever you are faced with a choice.

What have you learnt today ?

K is for Knack - #atozchallenge

Knowing either you have it or you don't for something is described a Knack.

Confidence in one's own abilities plays a big role in application of that ability.Even the best of talent's is not enough if not properly backed up by confidence. Luck plays its part in meeting up opportunities with preparation.

So the next time someone tells you you have a Knack for something, remember that the ability to recognize it, improve on it with efforts and proper grooming will help you retain it.

With Knack of something its just a matter of time when it disappears as you evolve.

Can you connect this Knack post of reading between the lines the intent of this write up? In other words, do you have the Knack? Which one?

J is for Jeopardy !!! #atozchallenge

Just as you hear the word Jeopardy there is a 99% chance that you will think of the TV Show.

Jeopardy is an intellectual show with a great first impression. It reminds me of the Whats the good Word show of the 80's hosted by Sabina Merchant.

Jeopardy the word means danger or hazard, while the show has a great format of figuring out the question based on hint(s) to the answer for a particular domain.

This is one show which is definitely challenging for the interested intellectuals and investigates the depth of one's knowledge and learning. It competes with Who want's to be a millionaire? and other quiz formats and excels and stands above above the rest.

So who want's to play Jeopardy now? Are you ready for the Danger?

I is for Inertia - #atozChallenge

Imagination is more important than knowledge - Albert Einstein

The fundamental law of physics states "A body continues to be in its state of rest or uniform motion, unless acted upon by an external force". This tendency is called Inertia.

My observation has been, each individual's actions, talk and thought also exhibits inertia. On one hand, the capabilities of the brain are limitless but in reality it is Inertia of thoughts which restricts the exploration.

Imagination is an acquired talent. If one can brush off the inertia of rest and put their thoughts and actions in control of their will, that person can escape the limits of their environment.

Are you ready to push the envelope ?

H is for Hiccups - #atozchallenge

One thing I simply hate is Hiccups.

Common remedies work in stop gap arrangement with the occurrence and complete fail to control it. Drinking lots of water, Eating a pinch of sugar, Taking a pause in breathing, Shock Treatment etc etc are often suggested by those who care.

The first time I received shock treatment was really memorable. A stranger asking for borrowed money shocked the hiccups out of me. But now I guess I don't get shocked anymore.

As always Time is the best healer and Time is what I do not want to spare for hiccups.

Have a Hiccup free time ahead !!!

G is for Gambit - #atozchallenge

No Pain No Gain.

As you Sow, so shall you Reap.

Before time and above destiny, no one receives anything. - Bhagavad Gita.

In chess parlance, a gambit  is a tactics to give up a pawn or piece to get a developmental advantage.

Often when faced with options, one should use Common Sense, but that being uncommon, based on limited experience and perspective, a person often unknowingly plays a Gambit. Some consider it their Gut feeling, while in retrospective they might find it foolish.

Of course as in the game, sometime it works out but many times it does not. Every single day, when faced with choices, the choice you make defines you.

What gambits have you played in life so far ?

F is for Friend - #atozchallenge

Freedom is an underrated accomplishment for many. In spite of the limitless reach of mind and thoughts, so many are still shackled by their environment and memories of past experiences. I believe a Friend is always the one window to the world around us intellectually stimulating as well as keeping one's feet to the ground at the same time.

While growing up, I recollect that all the best memories are those, which are shared with a friend. Even though the quote says "A friend in need is a friend indeed", Friends can meet in the most unexpected ways.

According to a quote in the great Mahabharata, "Your spouse is supposed to be your best friend.". Growing up, I find it making friends is a bit different and sometimes tougher, not sure if it is the same with other's too.

Very first, you should be your own best friend to keep sanity and be a better person. I would recommend having an imaginary-friend then be void in living.

E is for ENTROPY - #atozchallenge

I love the word ENTROPY.

ENTROPY is a fascinating word. Strictly speaking in terms of laws of thermodynamics it takes a while to wrap the head around the concept. On the other hand, entropy is measure of a disorder in a system. (Or is it the measure of DRAMA in the system. or a understanding of CHAOS)

Only thing I understand is the total amount of ENTROPY in the universe is ever increasing.

As one grows the effort is to keep control of the ENTROPY in our lives and reduce it to a minimum to make our self feel powerful, but nature and time have a way of dealing with this. They outsmart us at this struggle eventually winning over.

Think about this.

The more the learning, the more the understanding of how less it is still understood.

D is for DRAMAAAAA - #atozchallenge

Of the embarrassing memories, I recollect one from my 6th grade where I directed a detective school DRAMA which was inspired straight out of TV serial 'Karamchand'.

My class mates played the role of detective 'Karamchand' and sidekick 'Kitty' with aplomb carrot chewing and funny lines while I was relegated to playing the murderer who runs away from the scene of the crime leaving a cigarette butt.

On stage, the dead body actor got stage fright and refused to move out when the curtains were down.

For the audience who had to suffer through it luckily had these hilarious goof ups where one actor had to prompt out loud, "I said my line, its your turn".

I could sense the desperation of the teachers who were witnessing the ensuring 'thriller' turn into comic routine with lines uttered by the participants were out of sync of the scene.

Really wonder how it passed the scrutiny of acceptance, but nevertheless I often enjoy smiling at the adventures achieved in the age of innocence.

C is for Chemotherapy - #atozchallenge

Common sense is uncommon.

For those aware of Chemotherapy and for those who had to suffer through it to eventually challenge the disease, my sincere best wishes.

Spectating from the sidelines, feeling helpless for the brave who undergo the challenge with a Smile establishes some memories and emotions which "words cannot express".

For the big C, Care is the only complement to cure and Cure is only bettered by Prevention. Only time knows the answer.

Take Care for Yourself.

B is for Basics - #atozchallenge

Basics, Get your basics right.

The 10000 hour rule in the Malcolm Gladwell's book Outliers suggests that Mastery over a subject is eventually accomplished in around 10000 hours of practice over time, but the inherent assumption is 'BASICS' are right.

A tall building should definitely have a very strong well built foundation. In everything you do if your basics are right, you will eventually master it with correct regular practice.

Even to this day Researchers and Scientists all over the world are still trying to unravel the 'basics' (fundamentals) of what makes up Matter and how to map it correctly to explain every observation around us.

If you think you have understood something try explaining it in a minute or two to a layman, if you can you know it well, if not Get the Basics Right.

A is for Avacado #atozchallenge

A is for avocado

An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away, can also apply to the avocado (even though I do not recommend biting it raw)

Of the many paradoxes in life, one I had successfully retained till many years, is the ability to Eat and Enjoy served food not knowing about the ingredients and calorie count.

Fresh homemade "GUAC" (or guacamole as it is known otherwise) is delicious and recognized to be healthy food. It is made from avocado, a fruit I never knew existed.

I wonder if it is time for generation Z Kids to initiate learning English alphabets starting with A is for AVOCADO.

Read more about it at Wiki and start the second quarter of the year on a healthy note.

Wish you a great time ahead !!!
