As I am reading about the announcement that google will release a Google Chrome OS I cannot but wonder why do we need another operating system. In the last 15 years Linux has not been able to make much of a dent in the OS market let alone capture the enterprise acceptance.
Whatever or whenever they release the OS, I am sure it will not be accepted by the corporate world for quite some time.

Google is not aiming at full fledge desktop OS.
its based for mobile devices and preferably for NetBooks which need a light OS with browser capabilities.
My ipod touch touch takes a frcation of time to boot compared to my windows laptop. I prefer to check my mails, surf the web quickly in hurry using ipod touch rather than booting my laptop.
There is a huge market for such light weight OS for net enabled portbale devices.
